DNA Testing: More on the Skaggs / Catron Connections

I recently wrote a blog post about some DNA testing relationships between Skaggs descendants and Catron descendants that may indicate that a Catron family member may have married into a Skaggs family line.  After a bit of research we have some specifics about these genealogical relationships that seem to support the DNA testing results.

Two Catron descendants have DNA matches with a descendant of Old Peter Skaggs / Martha Cothon. One of these Catron matches is a confirmed descendant of Jacob Catron (son of Michael) and has a triangulated match on a single DNA segment with two separate descendants of Old Peter Skaggs. The significance of this match is that there is a 90% chance that the two descendants of Old Peter and the descendant of Michael Catron share the same ancestor.  It could be that Old Peter's wife was a Catron or one of her ancestors was a Catron.

The second Catron match is a confirmed descendant of Valentine Kettering (son of Adam, married to daughter of Michael) who matches on a different DNA segment of one of the above descendants of Old Peter.  The theory that Old Peter's wife was a Catron is starting to look plausible.

Any descendants of Old Peter Skaggs with DNA testing results might want to try matches against the following surnames: Catron, Ketron, Katron, Kettering, Kettenring.
