Illinois Skeggs Wanted for DNA Testing

The Skaggs family Y-DNA project is looking for descendants of a Skeggs from the Chicago, Illinois area.  Male descendants of Robert Hugh Skeggs (1925-2002) are needed to take a Y-DNA test to identify how this Skeggs family line fits and where they come from.

The Illinois Skeggs family line can be traced back to Maryland, to Leonard Scaggs and Sarah Rice married 30 November 1802 in Frederick County, Maryland.  Robert Hugh Skeggs died in Elgin, Illlinois on 29 June 2002.  He was born in Chicago and lived in Streamwood, Illinois for several decades. The Y-DNA project is looking for testers from this Skeggs family line to determine how they fit with other Skaggs family groups.  Also, it would be interesting to see if this family group also descends from the Isle of Man with Viking heritage like several other Skaggs families.  Yes, I'm serious.  Skaggs Vikings.

If Skeggs male descendants of Robert Hugh Skeggs are interested in participating in the Y-DNA project, please consider signing up for Y-DNA testing at the project link below.  You can test with the Big-Y or several less expensive Y-DNA tests that are available.  Please reach out to the Group Administrator for help choosing which test to take.  Remember, Y-DNA testing is men only.
