Francis "Big Frank" Lemaster was militia captain in 1826 in Lawrence County, Kentucky. Local residents want to commemorate their service by commissioning a stone monument to the men of that militia company, and they currently are raising funds on Facebook to fund the project. Some interesting names will go on that monument.
Francis "Big Frank" Lemaster was from Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was one of the early migrants to the Big Sandy Valley and was married in Floyd County in 1813. Remember, Floyd in those days contained land in present-day Lawrence, Johnson, Pike, Morgan, etc. counties. So Big Frank was militia Captain in Lawrence County in 1826-7 a few years after it was formed from Floyd County. What is interesting for Skaggs researchers is who was in Big Frank's militia company:
Old Peter Skaggs
Old Solomon Skaggs (Old Peter's brother)
Lewis
Solomon
Peter Jr.
Jeremiah
John
Moses
