The R1a Skaggs Family has a family group defined by Y-DNA testers who are living descendants of Peter Skaggs Jr., identified by the Y-haplogroup R-BY114642.

Peter Skaggs Jr (1803-1872) was son of Peter Skaggs and Martha Cothron.  He was born in 1803 in Russell County, Virginia and migrated with his parents to what was then Floyd County, Kentucky about 1811.  He married Clarinda Prince in Lawrence County, Kentucky on 20 March 1823.  The genealogy for R-BY114642 follows:
